Festive Season in Málaga
One of the best plans to enjoy the Christmas spirit on the Costa del Sol is visiting Malaga! There are so many things to do during the festive season – Christmas programme in the main theatres, nativity scenes in the historic center, Christmas market and much more.
CHRISTMAS AT CERVANTES AND ECHEGARAY THEATRES
The Cervantes and Echegaray Theatres in Malaga boast a wide programme of shows to enjoy during Christmas with the family.
From 16 December to 6 January, check out their offering and choose your favourite shows; children will have a great time with “Los Crackids en Concierto,” five talented kids playing rock, ska and punk tunes and children’s shows such as “Cuando colorín colorado no es un final” and “Cris, Pequeña Valiente” will leave them open-mouthed.
Grown-ups can enjoy the concert by Rozalén and “Swan Lake” by the International Classical Ballet.
But this is just the beginning. Click on the image above and visit their website, you will find a much more extensive programme.
MUELLE UNO
Malaga’s Muelle Uno is getting ready for Christmas and is building a Snow Village to welcome Santa Claus this year. It is a perfect place for coming with children!
The Winter Games Zone is where you can find the Village, which will be open to visitors so that children can talk to Saint Nick and ask him for their Christmas presents. In addition, in the Winter Games Zone they will be able to test their skills in mini-golf and curling. This area will remain open until January 5 and will only be closed on December 25 and January 1 due to the reindeer’s rest.
Christmas Market
One of the largest and most famous in the province of Malaga, both for its location in the heart of the city and for its wide variety of stalls. With a focus on families, and especially the little ones in the house, it has many fun activities to enjoy together.
NATIVITY SCENES IN THE CENTER OF MALAGA
One of the most typical plans for the people of Malaga is to spend an afternoon visiting nativity scenes (Belen) in the center of Malaga, with a mandatory stop to have chocolate with churros in one of the traditional cafeterias in the center.
In practically every corner of the historic center you can find a nativity scene, although we advise you not to miss these:
Belen of the Malaga City Hall
Place: Patio de Banderas of the City Hall.
One more year, on the first Friday of December in the afternoon, the monumental Municipal Bethlehem opens to the public, which occupies 140 square meters with more than 400 figures.
Belen of the Cathedral
Place: Malaga Cathedral.
Another of the city’s historical ones, it has more than 45 square meters of surface area and this year it has a maritime focus.
Belen of Carmen Thyssen Museum
Place: Courtyard of Columns Carmen Thyssen Museum.
For yet another year, the Museo Carmen Thyssen Málaga begins by celebrating Christmas with the inauguration of the Neapolitan Nativity Scene that is installed each year by the Archconfraternity of Los Dolores de San Juan de Málaga.
In addition, the Patio de Columnas will host Christmas concerts with free access during the month of December and the Museum’s Education Area will carry out a program of activities related to Christmas.
